DEPARTMENT OF History

Shankarrao Jagtap Arts and Commerce College The Department of History focuses on developing students’ understanding of past events, cultures, and civilizations. The department provides knowledge about ancient, medieval, and modern history, as well as Indian and world history. It helps students develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and historical awareness. Various activities such as heritage visits, seminars, exhibitions, and project work are organized to give practical exposure. The department also promotes the preservation of cultural heritage and historical values. Students from this department have career opportunities in teaching, research, archaeology, museums, tourism, and civil services.

    The continued well-being of the common man through a study of historical background of
    society, polity, economy and religious beliefs of common man.

    Advancement and dissemination of historical knowledge for upholding values such as
    democracy, equality, social justice and inclusiveness required for just and human society.
